Shumaila Javed Bhatti

Shumaila Bhatti, Ph. D., is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Virginia Tech, United States (2024). Previously, she received her Ph. D. in Environmental Sciences from the State University of New York, College of Environmental Sciences. Her research focuses on critically oriented mixed methods to encourage public engagement in socio-environmental systems management. She is a Fulbright Scholar and has been awarded the Environmental Excellence Award in Pakistan for her work in rural development through her non-profit Environmental Watch Pakistan (2012-2016). She has published research papers and book contributions in leading journals and has several other publications under review and in progress. Shumaila is also a guest editor of the Science and Environmental Communication section within Frontiers in Communication. Her success as an expert in her field is evident through her reputation as an invited speaker at peer institutions and international conferences. She is currently leading Centre for Environmental Security at The Human Security Institute (THSI).
