Heatwaves in Pakistan are becoming longer, deadlier, and more frequent, with the national heat index rising by 3°C since the 1960s. The 2015 Karachi heatwave alone claimed more than 1,200 lives, and in hotspot cities like Jacobabad, hospitals still receive 15–20 patients a day during peak summers. Our newly released Heatwaves Factsheet presents critical evidence on health risks, socioeconomic challenges, gendered vulnerabilities, and the urgent need for adaptation measures to protect communities from escalating heat stress.
